After doing some reading, it seems some things will never change(or at least, not in my lifetime).
And yet, not all changes are good.
Ah well, them's the breaks.
Last night I had a good sleep, for the first(or maybe the second?) time in a month. Whew.
I'm no longer plagued by mathematics as I try(in vain) to fall asleep. Why? Because holidays is here. No more late nights for me.
Of course I'm still going to study maths even if it's holidays, but this time it's because I want to, not because I need to.
Wrapping my head around holomorphic functions, product spaces, algebraic graph theory etc is so much more fun when I do not have a friggin' deadline.
Sometimes it felt like a gun was pressed up against my temples....heh.
Then again, would I really have it any other way? I've heard that mathematicians are like addicts...indeed being without maths sometimes cause me to be unsettled.
Ah well....to each his own. And for me, a blissful sleep tonight.
Group Theory, Graph Theory, Complex Analysis, Measure Theory, Topology.
A man can only take so much....
Wonder how the greats did it, men like Jordan....
10 hours per paper per week....40 hours per week at the very least.
Damn that's a lot....especially since my previous exertions were way below that.
As Archimedes would put it,
"Transire suum pectus mundoque potiri" (Rise above oneself and grasp the world)

Going back to Auckland this Saturday...sigh
No rest for the wicked(the not wicked too)
Wanting to relax forever.....but knows that that is impossible.
Timetable's out for S1 2010.
Saw Tom's gonna teach 740....damn, now I'm interested in that. Especially since Sina's teaching 750....probably gonna be booooring.
As usual, boring + easy vs interesting + hard.....which to pick.
Marston's teaching 715....might pop in for a bit. Maybe even switch later if 720 proves to be a PITA(which it will if Eamonn puts in too much stuff about fields)
Overall, seems to be the same ol' stuff.

Still haven't decided between Number Theory or Set and Logic Theory for Semester 2.
Set Theory and Logic looks interesting, especially ZFC, Borel sets etc...but it's hard to imagine practical apps.
I've only seen basic set theory in action(fuzzy sets too, but that's not really....)
Number Theory has emerged to be a very useful field in real world terms(crypto n stuff).
But hm...elementary NT is one thing, algebraic or analytic NT would be a mess for me. Not to mention the others.
Everything seems related these days, my broad maths base has turned into a double-edged sword.
While I can sometimes intuitively feel the connections, at other times I can feel them strangling me.
My current attempt at finding a research topic feels just like that.
While I can enjoy the beauty of combining algebra with graphs, trying to delve deeper than the surface is very taxing.
At times like this I feel like giving up, but it would be a waste after all the effort.
Pushing on despite my famed indolence.
Sigh...perhaps Homomorphisms of graphs will prevail, we'll see.
On a side note, I find writing on paper more....relaxing and engaging. But paper gets easily lost, especially when I have boxes of them.
I'll try to write/scan/ocr them onto here and see what happens.
Probly wouldn't work, but probably didn't stop the ancients.
